63 Republican and Democrat Sheriffs Back Attorney General for Re-Election

Waukesha – Wisconsin prosecutor and Attorney General Brad Schimel’s team keeps growing as it adds a huge wave of bipartisan support for the second day in a row. With the addition of 33 members, the campaign announced it has earned the endorsements of 63 Republican and Democrat elected county sheriffs.

“Brad Schimel is a tough, fair and independent Attorney General. He knows the problems facing Wisconsin don’t discriminate based on political party,” said Barron County Sheriff, Chris Fitzgerald. “He has made battling the meth epidemic, bringing to justice human traffickers and keeping our schools safe among his top priorities.”

Fitzgerald is one of 12 Democratic County sheriffs to endorse Schimel this week. All told, 12 Democrats and 51 Republican Sheriffs announced their support for Brad Schimel. The law enforcement leaders lined up to praise the competence, professionalism and vision of the first-term Attorney General.

“As Wisconsin’s Top Cop, Brad has stood with the men and women of law enforcement and worked hard to give us the tools necessary to keep Wisconsin safe,” said Brown County Sheriff, John Gossage.

“From combating opioid abuse, human trafficking, and elder abuse, Attorney General Schimel is fighting for every Wisconsinite,” said Washburn County Sheriff Terry Dryden. “His efforts in fighting the spread of opioid abuse is unmatched in Wisconsin and he’s a strong advocate for prevention and treatment.”

“I’m proud to support Attorney General Schimel for re-election. As a career prosecutor in Waukesha, he took on tough cases and won. He stood with law enforcement to keep families safe and violent criminals behind bars. Brad Schimel is the right choice for Attorney General,” said Waukesha County Sheriff Eric Severson

Schimel, who has been on the front lines as a Wisconsin prosecutor for nearly three decades, said being law enforcement’s choice for Attorney General means a lot to him.

“I am honored to once again have broad, bipartisan support of Wisconsin’s law enforcement leadership from both Republicans and Democrats across the state,” said Schimel. “I stand with our men and women of law enforcement and work day in and day out to give them the tools necessary to keep our streets safe.”
