PEWAUKEE — Incumbent AG Brad Schimel sent his supporters home for the night, saying they’ll have to wait until the morning to find out the results.
“Whatever happens, it has been an honor of a lifetime to serve along side the people of the Department of Justice,” Schimel said.
Schimel thanked those he worked with at DOJ, his supporters, his campaign team and his family. He spent several minutes emotionally thanking his wife, who he said has essentially been a single mother throughout his career.
Schimel said during the campaign he came under fire for spending money on coins to recognize officers.
“If I could do anything different, I would make more of those coins so I could make sure every law enforcement officer in Wisconsin has one,” Schimel said.
