[Madison, WI] Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) and Representative John Jagler (R-Watertown) released the following statement following today’s meeting of the Joint Committee on Finance:

“We are pleased with the infrastructure investment plan that was approved today. This infusion of new federal dollars into our transportation budget is much needed, and the committee’s actions today ensure the funds will be spent efficiently and wisely.

“Dodge County will benefit directly from this plan. An additional $38.6 million will be sent to DOT’s Local Bridge Program, which will ensure that two crucial bridge repair projects will receive funding:

· Canadian Pacific Railway Service Bridge, Bobolink Road, Town of Lowell

· Beaver Dam River Bridge, Town of Beaver Dam

“These new dollars combined with the money set aside in the 2017-19 state budget will ensure that 100% of bridge repair applications that have been submitted will be approved. In addition, we are continuing to rebuild our aging interstate system and moved an additional $6.7 million into state highway rehabilitation.

“Despite rhetoric from legislative Democrats, this plan is a win for taxpayers, a win for municipalities, and a win for public safety.”
