State Senator Janis Ringhand – (608)266-2253; Sen.Ringhand@legis.wisconsin.gov

“Today, Wisconsin is facing the challenge of fixing our crumbling roads and bridges, and restoring our commitment to public education.

The Governor plans to continue the trickle down agenda that favors the wealthy and powerful. His plan has us paying for $27 million in special tax breaks for 15 of the richest people in the state.

The Foxconn tab is now $4.5 billion, a billion dollars more than just a month ago. Is there no end?

This was a campaign speech filled with campaign promises. Eight years ago, Governor Walker promised to create 250,000 jobs. So, we should take whatever promises made today with a grain of salt.

Hopefully, we can come together to end the corporate giveaways that outsource jobs and focus on restoring tax fairness for working families. We need to create opportunities to attract young people to Wisconsin and keep our home grown talent here in the state. We should strengthen our public schools and fix the roads.

People are our greatest asset and no matter what the challenge, the people of Wisconsin will persevere and move forward. That is what makes Wisconsin great.”
