MADISON – Yesterday, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford spoke before the Senate Judiciary Committee regarding her allegations against potential Supreme Court of The United States (SCOTUS) Nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh.  Despite the credible showing of Dr. Ford, the Republican members of the Committee voted today to move the nomination to the full Senate, where the final confirmation will be voted on.

Prior to the Committee adjourning, Senator Jeff Flake (R-Arizona) said he would only vote for Judge Kavanaugh’s final confirmation if an FBI investigation into the claims was conducted.  In response to Flake’s comments, Senator Lena Taylor (D-Milwaukee) released the following statement:

“Although I wish Senator Flake had taken a bolder stance, I’m hopeful that his request is taken seriously by Republican Leadership and members of the Senate.  Given the deeply disturbing nature of the allegations raised by not one, but three women, I don’t think sworn affidavits are nearly enough.  There are potential witnesses who should be questioned and too many unanswered questions, which calls for nothing less than a full on investigation by the FBI.”
