Brookfield, Wis. — U.S. Senate candidate Leah Vukmir, R–Brookfield, called on Sen. Tammy Baldwin to put aside her extreme liberalism and allow Gordon Giampietro to receive a fair Senate hearing for his appointment to the federal district court in Milwaukee.

“As a Greek Orthodox woman, it is alarming that senators like Tammy Baldwin would be willing to block judicial nominees because of their faith,” Leah said. “America was built on the principle that people of faith can abide by their conscience while serving the interest of the public. Sen. Baldwin should be ashamed of her willingness to let politics get in the way of filling vacant seats on the court.”

A BuzzFeed reporter recently published a liberal diatribe of reasons why she sees Giampietro as unqualified for the post. Many of the reasons stemmed from his beliefs as a man of faith. In the piece, a Baldwin spokesman boasted that the senator is blocking Giampietro’s appointment.

Sen. Baldwin has a record of holding up Trump’s judicial nominees. Unfortunately, this behavior is par for the course as she attempted to stand in the way of supreme court justice Michael Brennan’s nomination. Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley had to break tradition because of Baldwin’s obstruction to finally give Brennan a hearing.
