WASHINGTON—House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) issued the following statement after the House passed two pieces of bipartisan legislation, one that reforms the Congressional Accountability Act and another that makes immediate changes to harassment prevention and procedures within the House. Both passed with a voice vote.

“From Members to staff, no one should feel unsafe serving in Congress. We promised we would deliver real change to the system, and today we are. These bipartisan measures make great strides to improve the policies and mechanisms in place to guard against and report harassment and discrimination in Congress. I am proud of the way the House has worked together in a bipartisan manner to deal with this serious issue. My hope is that this legislation will help make hostile workplaces in Congress a relic of the past.”
