ICYMI: Individuals Interested in Construction Careers Encouraged to Attend Wisconn Valley Construction Resource Fair in Racine
Vendors sought to help individuals take next steps in launching construction careers
MADISON – Governor Scott Walker, Racine County Executive Jonathan Delagrave, and City of Racine Mayor Cory Mason invite individuals interested in pursuing a career in construction to the Wisconn Valley Construction Resource Fair on March 29 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Racine Civic Centre’s Festival Hall.  The resource fairwill connect individuals with community resources to understand the skills needed to launch a career in construction.
“The launch of the Wisconn Valley Construction Resource Fair opens the door for Wisconsinites to better prepare themselves for future job opportunities in construction as a result of Foxconn’s historic investment in Wisconsin,” said Governor Walker.  “We are excited to bring together local partners, such as technical colleges, businesses and community programs to ensure our residents have all the tools needed to benefit from this expansive project.  Preparing our workforce is an essential step to ensuring that everyone in Wisconsin who wants a job can find one.”
Community organizations that provide services and support to the unemployed and underemployed, as well as those seeking to enhance their skills will be available to assess and assist individuals to prepare them for opportunities in the construction field.
For individuals interested in a construction career community resources will include:

  • Job readiness and skills training
  • Education programs
  • Apprenticeship opportunities
  • Reentry workforce services
  • Veterans services
  • Vocational rehabilitation
  • Pre-apprenticeship construction training, entrepreneurship, and jobs of the future workshops

The Wisconn Valley Construction Resource Fair is coordinated in partnership with the Wisconsin Departments of Administration, Transportation, and Workforce Development, as well as the City and County of Racine, the Racine County Economic Development Corporation and the Southeast Wisconsin Workforce Development Board.
