On 6th anniversary of Sandy Hook, we must come together to address public health crisis
MADISON – On this 6th anniversary of the Sandy Hook murders, where 20 children and 6 staff members were gunned down, a coalition of physicians and medical professionals called for bipartisan common sense measures to protect the health and safety of children and communities. Rep. Chris Taylor (D-Madison), who joined these physicians, issued the following statement:
“I had a six year old child when the Sandy Hook massacre happened. Now he’s 12 and after multiple school shootings, we must come together to protect the safety of our children. Our children have literally grown up with the fear that they will be shot in their classrooms. The truly sad thing is that it hasn’t gotten better – it’s gotten worse. The irresponsible, hands-off approach to sensible, popular safety measures continues to jeopardize the safety of our children and of our communities. We can and must do better.”
