RIB MOUNTAIN, Wis. – Nancy Stencil, the Chair of the Democratic Party of Marathon
County and mental health professional, announced her candidacy today for the
Wisconsin State Assembly in the 86th Assembly District.

“Over the last few months I have noticed a major shift in enthusiasm among regular
citizens. People from all walks of life are standing up for what they believe and are
looking to improve our way of life here in 86th District, ” said Stencil. “I have chosen to
be a leader in my own community and run for the Wisconsin State Assembly. If we want
better paying jobs that provide benefits, the restoration of workers’ rights and affordable
healthcare, we need to buck the establishment to elect leaders that will deliver. I will
work for the regular citizen. I will work towards progress.”

A life-long Marathon County resident, Stencil has lived in Rib Mountain for the last 30
years. She is a mental health professional in the crisis center at North Central
Healthcare Center and has seen the opioid and methamphetamine crises up close.
Previously she has worked at a local grocery store and as the first woman garbage
collector in the Village of Rothschild. Stencil was elected chair of the Democratic Party
of Marathon County in 2016. Since that time, the party has made great strides in helping
to elect progressives to local public office and was instrumental in turning the county
blue in the most recent spring election.

“The state is starting to move in a progressive direction again. But there is a lot of work
yet to be done. As I said before, there is a lot of enthusiasm among regular people right
now. We can build on that enthusiasm towards a state that will benefit everyone.”
Wisconsin’s 86th Assembly District includes parts of south-western Marathon and
northern Wood counties, including the municipalities of Kronenwetter, Mosinee, Rib
Mountain, Weston, and part of the city of Marshfield.

Please join us for a campaign kickoff on Thursday, June 28 at 5:30 PM at the Marathon
County Democratic Party Office at 218 Sherman Street, Wausau.
