Gabriel Szerlong, Republican Candidate for Wisconsin’s 43rd Assembly District, released the following statement regarding the agricultural forum at Johnson Tractor in Janesville, Wisconsin on Wednesday September 12, 2018.

“Thank you to the host organizations, Rock County Farm Bureau and Rock County Ag. Business Council for organizing a very important and well-attended event for residents interested in learning more about the positions of state, local and federal candidates on agricultural issues.”

“I was disappointed that my opponent chose to attend a facilities planning workshop for a potential tax increase referendum for the Milton School District, and requested a special allowance in order to be able to make a few brief remarks prior to the start of the forum.  By not engaging in the forum in a meaningful way, I got the impression that Rep. Vruwink’s legislative duties were not as high of a priority as they should be.”

“If elected, I pledge to take advantage of every possible opportunity to engage with and listen to the farming community. There are many challenges facing farmers right now, and I thought it was disrespectful of my opponent to not stay to participate in the forum.  Everyone is aware of Rep. Vruwink’s long-time obsession with raising taxes in the Milton area; perhaps they would like to know his views on the agricultural industry which is a major economic driver in Rock County and across the 43rd Assembly District. “

The 43rd Assembly District contains portions of Rock, Walworth, Dane and Jefferson counties including Whitewater, Milton, Edgerton, Footville, part of Oregon and surrounding towns.
