(Portage, Wis.) – The American Legion, Department of Wisconsin thanks the State Senate for its action in adopting SB 473 on January 23rd. This bill implements a statewide alert system for missing “at-risk” veterans who have “service-related” health conditions such as Post-Traumatic Stress, Alzheimer’s, Dementia or other emotional/psychological conditions. The American Legion encourages the State Assembly to act expediently and pass this important legislation. Wisconsin takes pride in caring for its veterans, especially its most vulnerable. We thank the authors: Senator Patrick Testin (R) – Stevens Point, Senator Latonya Johnson (D) – Milwaukee, Representative Joel Kleefisch (R) – Oconomowoc and Representative Evan Goyke (D) – Milwaukee for their efforts in bringing this vital legislation forward.
