WASHINGTON, D.C. – With ongoing severe weather leading to flooding and damage in several Wisconsin counties, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, and U.S. Representatives Ron Kind and Glenn Grothman, today called on President Donald Trump to put the full support of the federal government behind cleanup and recovery efforts in Wisconsin.

“We are writing to request federal assistance for the Wisconsin communities impacted by recent storms and flooding, which particularly impacted the southwestern and northcentral counties of La Crosse, Vernon, Monroe, Crawford, Juneau, St. Croix, and Adams,” wrote the lawmakers in the letter.“Heavy rainfall and storms also battered portions of eastern Wisconsin, including Ozaukee, Washington, and Fond du Lac counties, the last of which saw multiple tornadoes touch down. Severe damage has already been documented, including impassable roads and bridges, dam failures, downed phone lines, and crippling damage to local farms.”

Senator Baldwin and Representatives Kind and Grothman requested additional assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for damage assessments, road and bridge repair assistance from the Department of Transportation (DOT), and farm and crop damage assistance from the Department of Agriculture (USDA).

As storms and flooding continue in Wisconsin, Senator Baldwin has repeatedly called on President Trump to act quickly to make federal funds available and support recovery efforts in communities across the state.
