OSHKOSH — U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) made these remarks in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day:

“The strength of Dr. King’s message is that he simply asked America to live up to the ideals it professed. As he eloquently said in Savannah, Georgia, in 1961, America is a dream, ‘a dream of a land where men of all races, of all colors and all creeds will be able to live together as brothers. The substance of the dream is expressed in these sublime words, words lifted to cosmic proportions: “All men are created equal. They are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights. Among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” This is the dream.’

“Dr. King believed in the greatness of America and its ideals. His example should inspire us as we strive to fulfill those ideals.”
