WASHINGTON  U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, said this after the House voted in favor of right to try legislation.

“Right to try needs to become the law of the land. It passed the Senate unanimously last summer, and I’m disappointed the House didn’t pass that bill and send it to the president for his signature. Nonetheless, I plan to ask my colleagues to pass right to try again immediately. Terminally ill patients and their families have waited long enough.”

The Johnson-Donnelly bill that passed the Senate by unanimous consent on Aug. 3, 2017, can be found here.

Thirty-eight states already have passed right to try bills on an overwhelmingly bipartisan basis.
