WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) released the following statement today regarding the announcement that CIA Director Mike Pompeo will be nominated to replace Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State:
“Secretary Tillerson served his country admirably in a very difficult job, and I have a great deal of respect for him. I look forward to meeting with Director Pompeo to discuss his nomination and learn more about his plans for running the State Department.”
Senator Johnson is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and chairman of the Europe Subcommitee.
