MILWAUKEE — On Saturday, October 27th, Voces de la Frontera Action will hold an early voting march to the polls, in support of Tony Evers for Governor, Mandela Barnes for Lieutenent Governor, and pro-immigrant candidates up and down the ballot. Marchers will gather and rally at the Cesar Chavez statue in front of El Rey at 916 S 16th St in Milwaukee before marching to the Mitchell Street Library to vote early.
“I’m marching and voting early on Saturday to support pro-immigrant candidates like Tony Evers,” said Juan Muñoz, 54, a member of Voces de la Frontera Action and a Vocero volunteer organizer with the Voceros por el Voto campaign. “We want equality for everyone. Everyone should have the right to apply for a driver license. Our community faces discrimination, and sadly, ICE has separated some of my friends from their families. These elections are a very important opportunity to help our community, and to give people hope. That’s why as part of the Voceros program, I have recruited 20 of my friends and family members to vote. As immigrants, we came here to work. We want to put an end to fear.”
Saturday’s march comes days after Scott Walker began running anti-immigrant ads attacking Tony Evers for his support for immigrant families and Dreamers. Voces de la Frontera Action has begun running online, radio, and television ads (online ads here) criticizing Walker for his policies that separate immigrant families and for his support for Trump. Voces Action’s ads urge Latinx and progressive voters to vote for Tony Evers.
