The progressive VoteVets today announced a $1 million TV and digital ad buy praising U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin and defending her against “political attacks” on the Tomah VA scandal.
The ad buy comes days after conservative Concerned Veterans for America unveiled its own $1.5 million statewide TV and digital ad campaign targeting Baldwin, D-Madison, on the issue.
But the VoteVets ad, which features three Wisconsin veterans who all say they were treated at VA Hospitals in the state, touted veteran-related legislation from Baldwin. That includes a bill President Obama signed into law aimed at strengthening opioid prescription guidelines for VA care providers.
“We’ve seen how Sen. Baldwin made real reforms at Tomah VA,” veteran Susan Mours says in the ad. “We know Tammy Baldwin has our backs.”
The ad is running statewide over the next three weeks, although the group declined to go into specifics.
