Brookfield, Wis. — In an act of utter blatant disregard for her duty as an elected official, Sen. Tammy Baldwin refused to vote on a bill on Monday that would protect unborn children from feeling pain. Minutes after the vote, she reappeared on the Senate floor to cast a vote nomination for a circuit court judge.

Nurse, mother and U.S. Senate candidate Leah Vukmir issued the following statement on Senator Baldwin’s inexcusable lack of action:

“I can’t say I’m surprised that Sen. Baldwin would refuse to vote on a proposal that would protect our most vulnerable from feeling the excruciating pain of an abortion. Playing politics and skipping out on a vote for fear there would be political consequences is cowardly. Sen. Baldwin should explain to Wisconsinites why she feels it is appropriate to completely neglect her responsibilities as a sitting U.S. Senator. We deserve to know where Sen. Baldwin stands on these important issues. I look forward to taking on Tammy Baldwin, and winning, because I have the spine to take the tough votes.”

Leah Vukmir is a nurse, military mom and conservative with a proven record of reform who is running to bring the Wisconsin Way to Washington. She currently serves as a state senator from Brookfield.
