Brookfield, Wis. — Military mom and U.S. Senate candidate Leah Vukmir called out Sen. Tammy Baldwin on Friday for her hypocritical vote against Gina Haspel’s nomination to be director of the CIA.

Baldwin cited Haspel’s involvement in the enhanced interrogation program as reason why she she voted against confirming her. However, Baldwin confirmed Obama nominee John Brennan to be CIA director. Brennan was in senior to Haspel during the time the U.S. used enhanced interrogation.

“Time and time again, Baldwin has demonstrated her desire to obstruct every bit of President Trump’s agenda,” Leah said. “Baldwin’s hypocrisy on Gina Haspel’s nomination is pure politics. Her vote was embarrassing and indicates she’s comfortable with talking from both sides of her mouth. Wisconsinites and Americans deserve better than the insincerity Senator Baldwin has to offer.”
