Brookfield, Wis. — Military mom and U.S. Senate candidate Leah Vukmir released the following statement Tuesday after the House of Representatives voted by a 347-70 margin in favor of the MISSION Act that will increase access to quality health care for veterans:
“No matter where they live in our country, the men and women who serve in our armed forces deserve access to quality health care. Sen. Baldwin ought to put our veterans’ well-being ahead of her extreme political agenda and union bosses who want to profit off government dysfunction. If Sen. Baldwin fails to stand up for our veterans to protect a broken system like she did by turning a blind eye to the Tomah VA opioid overprescription scandal, she will again betray trust of Wisconsinites.”
The MISSION Act has the support of 38 veteran and military organizations and was blocked by Congressional Democrats blocked earlier this year. Among other reforms, the bill provides urgent funding for veterans participating in the Choice Program for their health care needs.
