Brookfield, Wis. — The Leah for Senate campaign released the following statement Tuesday in reaction to the news that Kevin Nicholson’s campaign has dismissed Republican activists in Wisconsin who were planning on attending the Wisconsin GOP convention as “establishment” and “insiders”:

“It’s unfortunate that Kevin Nicholson would be so dismissive about the importance of having the support of seasoned Republican activists after spending months attempting to earn it. In this childish and arrogant memo, Kevin revealed the disdain he has for the same party activists who wisely endorsed Sen. Ron Johnson and Gov. Scott Walker.

“Kevin Nicholson owes Wisconsin Republicans an apology. The grassroots folks who attend Wisconsin’s Republican convention are far from the elite insiders in Washington supporting Nicholson’s candidacy. These are the volunteers who believe that the conservative policies passed under Gov. Scott Walker and Sen. Leah Vukmir are working. Kevin is wrong if he thinks treating dedicated volunteers like garbage is the ticket to winning the Republican primary.

“Our campaign is incredibly grateful for the many years of dedicated hard work party activists have delivered. We are very aware that without these volunteers, who have spent many hours stapling yard signs, knocking on doors, and filling phone banks, Wisconsin conservatives would have never accomplished so many victories.”

Leah Vukmir is a nurse, military mom and conservative with a proven record who has stood with Gov. Walker in cutting taxes and implementing bold reforms. She is running for the U.S. Senate to bring the Wisconsin Way to Washington. She currently serves as a state senator from Brookfield.
