EAU CLAIRE – Rep. Dana Wachs today endorsed Jeff Smith for Senate District 31.

“Now more than ever, we need to elect strong leaders to the Wisconsin Senate. I’m proud to endorse Jeff Smith for Senate District 31 because he is one of the most reliable folks I’ve ever met.

“Jeff is a tireless fighter, and a strong advocate for workers, families, and our environment. He will work to make sure every person has access to clean drinking water, affordable, high-quality health care, and jobs that pay a family-supporting wage.

“Jeff never gives up, and I know that he’ll never stop fighting for the folks in the 31st,” said Rep. Wachs.

“I am proud to call Dana Wachs a friend. Dana truly cares for others and has spent a lifetime advocating for a community that is welcome to all and protects our most vulnerable. We should all be grateful for Dana’s commitment to the State of Wisconsin as a representative in the legislature, as city council member in Eau Claire, and as a candidate for governor. He always carries himself with dignity while standing tall for what is right for his constituents,” said Smith.

Jeff Smith was born in Eau Claire and graduated from North High School. Married to Sue, they raised two daughters, Emily and Sarah. Smith’s proven leadership as a community leader led to his election as Town Chair in 2001 and State Representative for the 93rd Assembly District in 2006.

While in the Assembly, Smith authored and passed legislation to protect consumers and dogs from unscrupulous “puppy mills,” pushed for voter protection laws, and for laws to hold payday lenders accountable. In 2016, Jeff organized the Citizen Action Organizing Cooperative for Western Wisconsin.
