EAU CLAIRE – Rep. Dana Wachs, a Democratic candidate for governor, responded to news released today that the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources approved four new permits allowing Foxconn to emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) into Wisconsin’s air:
“There are few things more important than protecting the very air our children breathe. Dangerous VOCs and nitrogen oxide can hurt people with asthma and breathing problems. Even the EPA has said that nitrogen oxide can contribute to the formation of acid rain, can hurt our natural resources, and can be transported over long distances — impacting more than just the people who will live around the Foxconn factory.
“I’m outraged that Gov. Walker’s administration shoved through these permits despite valid objections from concerned residents.
“It’s time we take back the governor’s office and restore some common sense to the way our government works.”
