Gov. Scott Walker’s latest TV ad touts his UW tuition freeze and a new plan that would provide college graduates up to $5,000 in tax credits for working in Wisconsin after they finish school.
The spot opens with Walker in a lecture hall asking those assembled if they’re worried about paying for college as some raise their hands. Walker says he understands, and that’s why he froze UW tuition for six years. He adds he wants to cap it for another four and making it possible for some people to finish degrees in three years.
Walker then asks those in the room how many of them have student loan debt.
“Well, our plan provides up to $5,000 in tax credits for graduates who work in Wisconsin, so we can keep all of you close to home,” Walker says to close the spot.
The spot is Walker’s 17th of his re-election bid.
