(WAUKESHA, WI) – Today, the Waukesha County Board of Supervisors passed the 2019
Waukesha County Budget, 24-1. It will invest in public safety; roads and infrastructure;
economic development; and the initial stages of the new courthouse project. County Executive Paul Farrow is expected to sign the 2019 Budget Friday morning.

The 2019 Adopted Waukesha County Budget will cut the County tax rate for the fourth
consecutive year while falling under the state revenue cap. The 4-year annual tax levy change will be 0.95%. The tax rate will drop from $1.95 to $1.89 per thousand dollars of home value.

“Our residents tell us they want low taxes and a safe community. The board and I worked
together to meet those expectations,” said County Executive Paul Farrow. “We created a budget that invests in the programs and infrastructure residents care about, while lowering the tax rate and remaining $2.29 million under the state levy cap over the past four years.”

The 2019 Waukesha County Executive Budget prioritizes justice and public safety. Dollar
allocations to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department match its 2018 increase, which was the largest in seven years. It also funds Health and Human Services programs to help execute Waukesha County’s multi-tiered opiate overdose prevention and treatment work plan. The budget also funds phase one of the Waukesha County Courthouse project, which will break ground on construction of a new, secure courtroom facility next spring.

The budget continues to support the Waukesha County Center for Growth, an economic
development partnership between the County, the City of Waukesha, the Waukesha County
Business Alliance, and the University of Wisconsin Small Business Development Center.
