(WAUKESHA, WI) – The Waukesha County Communications Center (WCC) has been awarded membership into the National Center for Mission and Exploited Children’s (NCMEC) Missing Kids Readiness Program. The Program promotes best practices for responding to calls of missing, abducted, and sexually exploited children.

“The WCC team is now positioned to respond more quickly, comprehensively, and effectively when a child’s life may be at stake,” said Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow. “Armed with the information, knowledge and operational resources gained through meeting the Program criteria, the WCC team is communicating to its citizens that protecting the lives and safety of children is a top priority.”

To meet the requirements of the Program, the WCC team worked with NCMEC on their missing child policy to ensure it met the critical elements for call center agencies. In addition, management ensured all front-line supervisors and telecommunicators completed the necessary online training required for membership.

The WCC team is one of the original 299 Missing Kids Readiness Program agencies in the United States, and the 5th communications agency in the state of Wisconsin, who have achieved this status. Brown County Communications, Bayside Communications, Cedarburg Police, and Marinette County also meet the NCMEC’s training and policy requirements demonstrating preparedness for responding to a missing child incident.
