FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Waukesha County, City and School District Save $20.7 Million in First Three Years of Operation
(WAUKESHA, WI) – Today, Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow is pleased to announce major savings to Waukesha County, the City of Waukesha and the School District of Waukesha after opening a shared employee health clinic. A financial report released today shows that all three entities saved more than $20.7 million since the Waukesha Employee Health and Wellness Center opened in November 2014.
“The savings from our clinic are a prime example of how Waukesha County uses collaborations to improve service while saving taxpayer dollars” said Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow. “This partnership shows what local government entities can accomplish then they work together, and how we use current savings to keep taxpayer costs low in the future.”
All three entities saved a total of $20,753,720 through the clinic’s third year of operation, ending December 2017, which is significantly more than the five-year projected Return on Investment (ROI) of $7.7 million. Waukesha County saved a total of $6,009,172 in the clinic’s first three years, compared to the five-year projected ROI of $3.1 million. The cost savings are in comparison to each entity’s previous health care plans. Waukesha County will use these funds to offset future taxpayer costs on County and employee insurance premiums.
The Waukesha Employee Health and Wellness Center is unique because it operates as part of an intergovernmental agreement. It provides non-emergency health services to Waukesha County, City and School District employees, spouses and dependents. Healthstat, a North Carolina-based vendor operates the Clinic. Out of 320+ Healthstat clinics, the Waukesha County Employee Health and Wellness Center is the first to operate as part of an intergovernmental agreement.
