OCONOMOWOC – Members of the Waukesha County Labor Council and Painters & Allied Trades, District Council No. 7 volunteered at Three Harbors Council, Boy Scouts of America camp Indian Mound Scout Reservation (IMR) located in Oconomowoc.
PPG’s industrial coatings plant in Oak Creek donated 20 gallons of PPG PAINTS™ SPEEDHIDE® paint and materials to freshen up the outside of the rifle and archery range on May 19, 2018. Shur-line in St. Francis donated painting products including brushes and rollers.
Volunteers, coordinated by the Waukesha County Labor Council, handled the the painting. All volunteers received shirts supplied by the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County. Pictures of the painting are below.
“PPG is proud to contribute to the revitalization of the Boy Scouts of America Indian Mound Scout Reservation, one of the longest-running Boy Scout camps in the USA,” said Laurie Coleman, PPG community relations coordinator, Oak Creek. “The colors will help brighten the space for camp-goers, employees and visitors for years to come.”
The charitable effort was organized by Waukesha Labor Council President Tom Coyne, PPG and Shur-Line. Coyne, member of the Painters & Allied Trades, District Council No. 7, understands the importance of having Union Members participate in volunteer opportunities, and said he felt honored to facilitate this charitable project between the Waukesha Labor Council, Painters & Allied Trades, District Council No. 7, PPG, Shur-line and Three Harbors Council, BSA.
“It was a pleasure to be able to play a key role in gathering members of the Waukesha County Labor Council and Painters & Allied Trades, District Council No. 7 together and working with PPG and Shur-Line on this project,” said Coyne. “It’s great to see our brothers and sisters come together to help out the community.”
According to Andrew Hardin, Scout Executive of Three Harbors Council, BSA, “Shooting sports is one of the most popular activities at camp and we are thrilled the ranges will be repainted in time for the summer camp season. We are very grateful to the Waukesha County Labor Council and Painters & Allied Trades, District Council No. 7 for volunteering their expertise to paint the rifle and archery ranges.”

Established in 1917, Indian Mound Scout Reservation is one of the longest-running Boy Scout camps in the USA and is celebrating its centennial anniversary.
