MILWAUKEE — Wisconsin Working Families Party political director Rebecca Lynch made the following statement following the election of new leaders on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors:

“Wisconsin Working Families Party congratulates Milwaukee Supervisor Marcelia Nicholson on her election as 1st Vice Chair and Supervisor Sequanna Taylor as 2nd Vice Chair on the County Board of Supervisors. We also welcome our endorsed candidate Steven Shea, who was sworn in today to represent the 8th District as well as our own Marina Dimitrijevic, who has served the 4th District since 2004.”

“These leaders are forging a new path in improving the quality of life for working families by raising wages and improving public transportation and parks. And when education is under attack in our communities, the best champions are public educators, which Marcelia, Sequanna, and Steve are. As educators, they serve the breadth of our community, experiencing firsthand the needs and challenges of working families. They see families struggling to make sure that everyone has a fair shot to succeed. As our elected leaders, they have the ability to make policy to create better opportunities for all of us.”
