Gov. Walker’s tenure shows clear disregard for Wisconsin workers and middle class

“Gov. Scott Walker’s record speaks louder than his rhetoric in today’s state of the state address,” said Phil Neuenfeldt, President of the Wisconsin AFL-CIO. “Wisconsinites have lived through years of watching Scott Walker put politics ahead of the people. Scott Walker has shamelessly turned Wisconsin into a test tube of right wing ideology at the behest of his millionaire and billionaire campaign donors. Wisconsinites have watched Scott Walker enact the largest cuts to neighborhood schools in state history, attack the freedom of workers to stand together in union, roll back child labor protections and equal pay rights for women and we have had enough of the attacks on wages and worker rights.”

“It’s time to hold Scott Walker accountable,” said Stephanie Bloomingdale, Secretary-Treasurer of the Wisconsin AFL-CIO. “Where are those 250,000 jobs he promised Wisconsin workers in 2010? Gov. Walker has failed to create a thriving economy that lifts up Wisconsin working families. Gov. Walker can make as many fancy campaign speeches as he wants to and attempt to tap dance his way to better approval ratings, but Wisconsinites know his heart lies with campaign donors and his own political power, not with doing what’s right for Wisconsin.”
