Wisconsin Counties Association: Marathon County Clerk Nan Kottke Named WCA’s 2018 Friend in County Government
After a career serving Wisconsin’s and its taxpayers, Marathon County Clerk Nan Kottke has been named the Wisconsin Counties Association’s (WCA) 2018 Friend in County Government award winner.
“The WCA Friend in County Government recognizes county officials that have performed dedicated service not only in their own counties, but also for counties statewide,” said WCA Executive Director Mark D. O’Connell. “Nan has been a tireless supporter of Marathon County, as well as all 72 counties. She is a leader amongst her peers and her commitment to our state is unparalleled.”
Nan has served as the Marathon County Clerk since 1997. Prior to her election as county clerk in 1996, she worked in the county clerk’s office since 1971. She is the past president of the Wisconsin County Clerks Association and chair of its Mentor/Manual Committee. Nan is also a member of the Wisconsin Election Administration Council.
“Nan has been the one true constants during my time in county government. Her dedication to her community starts with her commitment to the participants in county government, including the Marathon County Board, Marathon County administration and Marathon County employees,” said Marathon County Board Chair Kurt Gibbs. “It extends to the most urban and rural parts of the county in her leadership during elections and her constant collaboration with municipal leaders and officers.”
He continued, “There are few that have ever held her position that have done so much with as much dedication to everyone in Marathon County and it is hard to imagine there ever will be such a person.”
