Eau Claire – Appearing today at an event focusing on infrastructure investment with Democratic nominee for Wisconsin Governor, Tony Evers, the Wisconsin Laborers’ District Council announced its endorsement of Tony Evers for Governor.  The Wisconsin Laborers have nearly 9,000 members throughout Wisconsin, and plan on running an ambitious campaign to educate and mobilize its members to the polls this November.

“Throughout his career as an educator and currently as the Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tony Evers has put the needs of Wisconsin’s working people at the forefront of his public service, and we know that he will continue to do so as Governor,” said John Schmitt, President/Business Manager of the Wisconsin Laborers’ District Council.

“Whether it is making the proper investments in our state’s roads and bridges, supporting fair pay for a fair day’s work, keeping the costs of health care down, or investing in our children’s education, Tony’s values are the same as the values of our members.  We look forward to working with Tony Evers on an agenda that supports all working people.”

The Wisconsin Laborers’ District Council is an affiliation of five Laborer local unions, representing nearly 9,000 construction craft laborers throughout Wisconsin.  The Laborers are the most diverse trade in the construction industry servicing employers in transportation infrastructure, building, sewer and water, utility distribution, demolition, asbestos removal and related sectors.
