MADISON—-The Wisconsin Women’s Network (WWN) today announced the 2018-19 Policy Institute. The WWN is seeking passionate women to participate in the seventh session of the Wisconsin Women’s Network Policy Institute. Participants will build their advocacy skills, learn how to navigate Wisconsin’s legislative and administrative rules process, and apply their passion for improving the lives of women and girls in Wisconsin. Applications are being accepted now and the deadline to apply is noon on Friday, August 10, 2018.

The Wisconsin Women’s Network Policy Institute provides hands-on leadership, communications, and policy advocacy training to a 25 women from around the state every year. The Institute is a program of the Wisconsin Women’s Network, an all-volunteer operated nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the status of women and girls in Wisconsin through communication, education, advocacy, and connections.

The Policy Institute consists of four, two-day retreats, held in Madison. Through these retreats, participants get hands-on practice, interactive learning, and connections to leaders in numerous fields. The broad areas of focus for the 2018-19 Institute are women’s health, safety, and economic security. The Institute is led by Vicky Selkowe, a public interest attorney and lobbyist who has nearly 20 years of Wisconsin-based policy advocacy experience.

When participants graduate from the Institute they are able to take what they’ve learned back to their communities and organizations where they will continue to engage in policy advocacy and educational efforts that advance the status of women and girls in our state.

The Wisconsin Women’s Network is committed to training women who represent all segments of Wisconsin’s diverse population. Women from diverse socioeconomic, LGBTQ+,

generational, geographic, educational, racial, and ethnic backgrounds who have not had access to

similar leadership, policy, and advocacy training opportunities are strongly encouraged to apply!

Applications and recommendations must be submitted through the above online forms by noon on Friday, August 10, 2018. Applicants will be contacted by Monday, August 13 to schedule a phone interview.
