MADISON — With seven days left until Election Day, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin is continuing to count down a selection of the worst votes and legislative actions from Republican U.S. Senate candidate Leah Vukmir‘s 16-year record of selling out Wisconsin to benefit her corporate special interest backers.

#7. Vukmir Sold Out Wisconsin Seniors On Alzheimer’s Funding And SeniorCare

As highlighted early this month in the Democratic Party of Wisconsin’s report “Leah Vukmir Has Sold Out Wisconsin Seniors and Future Retirees,” Leah Vukmir has repeatedly sided with corporate special interests and voted against Wisconsin seniors and future retirees.

Vukmir Blocked and Opposed Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care, Research, and Treatment Funding

Vukmir used her position as chair of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee to during 2015-2016 biennial block multiple bills to improve and increase funding for Alzheimer’s and dementia care, treatment, and research. 2015 Assembly Bill 7832015 Assembly Bill 7852015 Assembly Bill 7882015 Assembly Bill 791, and 2015 Assembly Bill 784, each died in Vukmir’s committee during that two-year period.

Vukmir Supporting Eliminated SeniorCare

Vukmir has also supported eliminating SeniorCare, Wisconsin’s prescription drug assistance program that is “designed to help seniors with their prescription drug costs“: she supported its elimination in 2005 and then again in 2007.
