#1. Vukmir Supports Gutting Protections For Wisconsinites With Pre-Existing Conditions

Leah Vukmir has campaigned on a promise to be the U.S. Senate’s deciding vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act and gut coverage protections for people with pre-existing conditions

MADISON — Election Day is tomorrow, and because health care is on the ballot, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin is today finishing our “Worst Of” countdown of Republican U.S. Senate candidate Leah Vukmir‘s 16-year record of selling out Wisconsin by highlighting that Leah Vukmir supports gutting protections for Wisconsinites with pre-existing conditions.

#1. Vukmir Supports Gutting Protections For Wisconsinites With Pre-Existing Conditions

Make no mistake: Leah Vukmir broadly supports letting insurance companies discriminate against Wisconsinites with pre-existing conditions, and Vukmir is running to be a rubber stamp for Republican plans that would dismantle the Affordable Care Act and gut its protections for people with pre-existing conditions.

Vukmir Says She Would Vote To Gut ACA Pre-Existing Condition Coverage Protections

Throughout her legislative career, Vukmir has consistently voted with insurance companies over Wisconsinites in need of health care coverage, so it’s no surprise that Vukmir is running as Republicans’ would-be deciding vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act and guts its protections that prevent predatory insurance companies from jacking up prices on or denying coverage to people with pre-existing conditions.

Vukmir Backs Junk Plans That Let Insurers Deny Coverage On The Basis Of Pre-Existing Conditions

On top of running as a vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act, Vukmir has also endorsed the Trump Administration’s expansion of “junk plans” which let insurance companies discriminate against and deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions.

Vukmir Supports Lawsuit To Strike Down Pre-Existing Condition Coverage Protections

And on top of that, Vukmir has also stood by Gov. Scott Walker and Attorney General Brad Schimel’s lawsuit that seeks to dismantle the Affordable Care Act and have its protections for people with pre-existing conditions struck down as unconstitutional.

Vukmir Has For Years Tried To Undermine Pre-Existing Condition Coverage Protections

By all indications, Leah Vukmir has supported gutting protections for people with pre-existing conditions since they were first codified into law in 2010. Case in point: A Vukmir-led committee in 2011 published a report that disparaged pre-existing condition coverage protections and instructed state lawmakers to — where possible — “Decline to enforce ObamaCare’s ‘consumer protections.'”

Pre-Existing Condition Coverage Protections Are On The Ballot

Health care is on the ballot tomorrow, because — true to her record of working for insurance companies at the expense of Wisconsinites — Leah Vukmir would be the deciding vote in the U.S. Senate to gut pre-existing condition coverage protections and let predatory insurance companies write their own rules.
