FLIP FLOP: Vukmir Now Supports* Billionaires Buying U.S. Senators
*If they’re trying to buy a U.S. Senate seat for her, that is

MADISON — Out-of-state billionaires buying a U.S. Senate election? Republican Senate candidate Leah Vukmir was against it before she was for it — and now she’s reaping the benefits of millions in spending from the out-of-state billionaire Koch brothers, as they seek to beat U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin:

THEN — Leah Vukmir, 8/6/18: [A] particular out of state donor is spending as much money…to…almost try and buy a Senate seat and that’s not what Wisconsin politics is about.”

NOW — Leah Vukmir, 3 weeks laterNow, Vukmir is lobbying for billionaire Dick Uihlein to spend on her behalf while simultaneously reaping the benefits of millions in spending from the out-of-state billionaire Koch brothers, who have now spent “more than $6 million against Sen. Tammy Baldwin” in order to elect Vukmir and buy a U.S. Senator who will work for them.

“It’s easy to see why the out-of-state billionaire Koch brothers are supporting Leah Vukmir, who they know and like as a national leader of their corporate special interest group ALEC, where Vukmir has advanced corporate special interests’ agenda at the expense of Wisconsin working families,” said Brad Bainum, Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson for the 2018 Senate race. “Corporate special interests and billionaires like the Kochs have spent more than $11 million attacking Tammy Baldwin because they want to buy a Senator like Leah Vukmir, who will work for them, not Wisconsin.”
