Despite Wisconsin Republicans’ pleas for party unity, Club for Growth, a corporate special interest group bankrolled by Nicholson megadonor and Illinois billionaire Dick Uihlein, has continued to attack Vukmir

MADISON — Further setting up a nasty face-off between Kevin Nicholson’s out-of-state backers and Leah Vukmir’s supporters at the Republican Party of Wisconsin, the Dick Uihlein-bankrolled Club for Growth is renewing its attacks on Vukmir.

In a press release and interview, the Washington, D.C.-based Club for Growth — a corporate special interest advocacy group — accused Vukmir of running a “negative campaign built on name-calling, smears, and false attacks.”
“Despite warnings from Wisconsin Republicans like Ron Johnson, Kevin Nicholson and Leah Vukmir continue to drag their primary into the gutter, further depressing enthusiasm among the Republican party base,” said Brad Bainum, DPW spokesperson for the 2018 U.S. Senate race. “It’s increasingly clear that Kevin Nicholson’s out-of-state megadonor Dick Uihlein plans to directly challenge the Republican Party of Wisconsin, ensuring that this primary will only get nastier.”
