Earlier today kicked off “fix our roads” tour in Green Bay

Today, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin launched a new web video entitled, “It’s Time for a New Direction in Wisconsin,” focused on Scott Walker’s failure to adequately maintain Wisconsin’s roads.

The video highlights several facts, including that Wisconsin has the second worst roads in the nation, and that the poor road conditions cause the average Wisconsin driver to spend $640 per year on car repairs.

Also today, the DPW kicked off its “Fix Our Roads” tour which will continue throughout the summer. The first stop was held in Green Bay, with Chair Martha Laning, Senator Caleb Frostman, several local drivers, and local operating engineers present.

“Scott Walker has made a number of fiscally irresponsible decisions when it’s come to funding our infrastructure,” said DPW Chair Martha Laning. “We need to elect a Democratic governor in November who will roll up their sleeves and fix our roads.”

“Talking to voters at their doors the last few months it is clear that the condition of our roads and this administration’s refusal to do anything is a major concern,” said Senator Caleb Frostman. “Our crumbling infrastructure is having an adverse effect on both the citizens of Wisconsin and our businesses. It is time we come together to find realistic, sustainable, and long-term solutions.”

“Transportation is on the top of the list for a lot of Wisconsinites in this election,” said Shane Griesbach, who is a District Manager for Local 139 of the International Union of Operating Engineers, which represents road-builders and other heavy equipment operators in the construction industry.
