SCOTT WALKER WON’T PROTECT A WOMAN’S RIGHT TO CHOOSE OR UPHOLD PROTECTIONS FOR PEOPLE WITH PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS

The following statement can be attributed to TJ Helmstetter, DPW’s spokesperson for the 2018 gubernatorial election:

“Now more than ever before, Wisconsin needs a governor who will stand up to protect a woman’s right to choose and who will protect people with pre-existing conditions. With the fate of the Supreme Court hanging in the balance, we need a governor who will stand up for working families over special interests. That’s not Scott Walker. Throughout his 25 years in political office, Walker has time and again put his own ambition and his donors’ interests above doing what’s right for Wisconsin’s families.

“Walker has defunded Planned Parenthood, signed a 20-week abortion ban into law, and has said that he would ban abortion even in cases when the mother’s life is at risk. In addition, Walker’s politically-driven lawsuit to overturn the Affordable Care Act would bring us back to the days when cancer patients could get kicked off their health insurance for being too sick and when pregnancy was considered a ‘pre-existing condition.’ It would make health care completely unattainable for Wisconsinites with serious illnesses, and unaffordable for millions more. If Walker’s lawsuit succeeds, millions of Wisconsin families will lose.

“With so much at stake, voters can’t afford to take a risk. Wisconsinites need a new governor who will put their interests first.”
