Vukmir supports deep cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, and backs plans that gut protections for Wisconsinites with pre-existing conditions and would let insurance companies charge seniors more

MADISON — Republican U.S. Senate candidate Leah Vukmir is lashing out at Wisconsin nurses and doctors, in a desperate attempt to distract from her health care agenda that includes plans to gut protections for Wisconsinites with pre-existing conditions and let insurance companies charge older people more.

Yesterday, Vukmir attacked Wisconsin nurses and doctors who last week spoke out on Vukmir’s dangerous health care plans, alleging that they weren’t telling “the truth” and accusing them of  “trying to buy into a doom-and-gloom scenario” — all without evidence.

“It’s beyond the pale that Leah Vukmir would lash out at Wisconsin health care professionals just for expressing their significant, professional concerns with her dangerous health care agenda,” said Brad Bainum, DPW spokesperson for the 2018 Senate race. “Vukmir’s attacks on nurses and doctors only further underscore that Leah Vukmir is on the side of her corporate special interest backers, not Wisconsin working families.”

The truth is that Vukmir supports deep cuts to Medicare and to Medicaid, the latter of which covers 3 in 5 Wisconsin nursing homes residents. And Vukmir also supports Republican Affordable Care Act repeal plans that will gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions, let insurance companies charge older Americans more, and strip coverage away from tens of millions of Americans.
