WisGOP: Seventh District Democrats’ weak start

Hayward, WI – Liberal Seventh District Congressional candidates Margaret Engebretson, Brian Ewert, and Kyle Frenette stumbled out of the gate in the first quarter of 2018. Wisconsin Seventh District GOP Chairman Jim Miller released the following statement on their lackluster fundraising reports:

“It’s clear these liberal, progressive Democrats and their campaigns are off to weak starts. Their inability to raise money when it’s ‘supposedly’ the best environment for in a generation for Democrats shows they are not running serious campaigns. The Seventh District GOP will make sure that our Congressman, Sean Duffy will continue to receive full support from the people of northern, central, and western Wisconsin.”

Background:

  • Brian Ewert reported only $73,000 in contributions, which includes $35,000 in a personalloan.
  • After touting his support to news outlets, Frenette’s first-quarter statements detail Frenette misstated his contributions and his fundraising totals included $50,000 personal loan.
  • Margaret Engebretson reported only $13,700 in contributions
