Celebrating a half century since Soglin’s first election
[Madison, WI] — Wisconsin College Republicans are commemorating Paul Soglin’s first election a half century ago and the backward policies he’s pushed throughout the last five decades. The highlights of Soglin’s tenure include giving a key to the city to brutal communist dictator Fidel Castro and gaining the reputation as Madison’s “Red Mayor.” Soglin first took office 50 years ago this month.
“Paul Soglin is an extreme Madison liberal who has spent a half century pushing far-left policies on the city,” said Alec Zimmerman, spokesman for the Republican Party of Wisconsin. “Now he wants to be governor to force that radical agenda on the rest of the state. Soglin is too extreme and his policies would be dangerous for hard-working Wisconsin families.”

Extreme Madison Liberal Paul Soglin’s 50 Years of Backward Policies
  • Shortly before his first election to the city council, Soglin led protests against “pig America” in the 1960s.
  • Soglin once gave the key to the City of Madison to brutal communist dictator Fidel Castro.
  • Soglin’s extreme agenda and radical views have created a negative environment for businesses — some companies have left Madison after finding it too difficult to work with Soglin.
  • Soglin is even proud of the disconnect his policies have created between Madison and the rest of Wisconsin – suggesting that Madison adopt the motto “77 square miles surrounded by reality.”
  • Additionally, murders in the City of Madison hit an all-time high in 2017 under Soglin’s leadership.
