Evers calls on JFC to take up funding to address homelessness

Gov. Tony Evers sent a letter to the co-chairs of the Joint Finance Committee today calling on them to convene and take up a request from the administration to release $7.3 million that would fund initiatives to address homelessness.
“The Wisconsinites most vulnerable to the harsh winter are going without the services and assistance they desperately need during the coldest months of the year,” Evers wrote in the letter.
But Sen. Alberta Darling, R-River Hills, and Rep. John Nygren, R-Marinette, rejected the call and accused Evers of trying to usurp the Legislature’s authority.
