Madison – Due to the continuing forecast for record setting cold and extreme wind chills expected to take place through much of the day Thursday, Dane County government will close its non-essential operations on January 30 and January 31. Essential public safety services will remain operational during this closure.

A wind chill warning has been issued by the National Weather Service beginning today (January 29) at 6:00 PM through 12:00 PM on Thursday, January 31. It is based on these anticipated record setting cold conditions and wind chills taking place during normal work hours that Dane County will activate its Plan for Suspending County Government Operations and close non-essential operations until Friday, February 1.

All County operations are expected to resume on Friday, February 1.
