Madison, WI – The Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) Secretary-designee Dawn B. Crim announced the first appointments to her leadership team today.

Nia Trammell has been appointed to serve as deputy secretary. She will serve as the chief operating officer for the agency, providing managerial oversight across the agency’s divisions. Previous to holding this position, she served as the Senior Administrative Law Judge for the Office of Worker’s Compensation Hearings with the State of Wisconsin Division of Hearings and Appeals, where she adjudicated cases, trained judges, and provided operational leadership support. In addition, Trammell has been engaged as a Commissioner on the City of Madison’s Police and Fire Commission and its Equal Opportunities Commission, and on the Board of the Urban League of Greater Madison.

Trammell is a Madison native and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Science and Law and a law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Michelle “Bea” Beasley will continue serving as the Administrator for the Division of Professional Credential Processing. Beasley was originally appointed to this position in 2017. She previously served as the Budget and Finance Manager from January 2013 until June 2017, and as Budget and Policy Analyst Advanced from October 2011 until January 2013. Prior to joining the Department, Beasley served as Budget and Policy Analyst Advanced at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources from December 2007 until September 2011.  Before moving to Wisconsin, she served in various management and administrative capacities at the County of Maricopa (Phoenix) Arizona from 1997 until 2007.

Beasley is originally from Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness, and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Western International University.

Crim said she would announce additional appointments as they are made.
