Evers proposes $150 million boost to UW, allowing undocumented residents to pay in-state tuition

Gov. Tony Evers is proposing a $150 million boost to the UW System in his upcoming budget, which will also call for allowing undocumented Wisconsin residents to pay in-state tuition rates at the university and the Wisconsin Technical College System.
The plan also would freeze in-state tuition rates for the next two schools years with a third of the proposed funding increasing going to cover the costs to the university for the lost tuition revenue, according to an overview of the plan from the Evers administration.
