MADISON- Senator Dan Feyen (R-Fond du Lac) released the following statement on Governor Tony Evers’ Budget Address for the 2019-2021 biennial budget:
“Governor Evers has inherited the best budget balance that we’ve experienced in a generation, all thanks to carefully implemented, responsible fiscal reforms that have helped Wisconsin and its people prosper. Over the past eight years our economy has soared, we’ve experienced real economic growth in the private sector, unemployment reached an all-time low and hard-working Wisconsinites have received the tax relief that they deserve.
I’m happy to hear that Gov. Evers wants more transparency for the WEDC, that he plans to continue the UW tuition freeze, and that he is considering a tax cut for the middle-class. However, my main concern is that Gov. Evers has failed to introduce a realistic way for us to fund his countless proposals. Overall, this budget proposal exemplifies Gov. Evers’ lack of effort at working across the aisle with legislators. Once lawmakers including myself, have fully assessed the budget proposal, I’m hopeful that Gov. Evers will step up and come to the negotiating table so that we can work together to pass legislation that will have positive results for the hardworking people of Wisconsin.
In my first legislative session every bill I authored that passed received bipartisan support. I look forward to continuing to work across the aisle with my colleagues to keep Wisconsin moving in the right direction.”
