JFC members lay down early markers in coming budget battle

Members of the Joint Finance Committee drew early battle lines Wednesday as they kicked off the first agency briefings of Gov. Tony Evers’ $84 billion budget.
JFC Co-chair Alberta Darling, R-River Hills, started today’s hearing by knocking Evers for proposing tax hikes in his budget after saying in the waning days of the campaign last fall that he didn’t plan to raise any taxes.
