JFC pares back new positions, rejects $1 million for Census count

The Joint Finance Committee pared back some of the new positions Gov. Tony Evers had proposed and wiped out the $1 million he wanted to put toward ensuring Wisconsin has an accurate count in the 2020 Census.
The committee voted 11-3 along party lines to reject the census money over objections from Dems who said it was important to get an accurate count of the state’s population next year to make sure Wisconsin receives its fair share of federal funding.
